Cosmos Club. I was recently invited to talk about photography with the "Cosmotographers" who are affiliated with the Cosmos Club. It was both elegant and wonderful in that friends were able to join in for some chow before I "sang for my supper." It was an opportunity to put together a new talk and review the last couple of years of work which have been excellent.

DC PHOTO BOOK was just sent off to the printer to my great relief. Did we catch all those little errata making their way thought the files? We'll all find out on March 26th when the first five thousand are supposed to be delivered. It was a very interesting experience and it was great to have my daughter Caitlin and Jessica Warren, an AU student, apply their talents to the text and design. You can take an online preview of the book both as a continous slide show or as a PDF.

Celebrate Magazine

devoted it's opening issue to Honor Flight Alabama and chose my images of the WWII veterans and the Memorial to illustrate the article. It was a beatuful piece and hopefully raised some money for Honor Flights around the country. You can see the blog and photography on the Jewel of the Mall website.

"FIRST PITCH POSTER" WASHINGTON NATIONALS
"ON DEMAND PRINTING"!!!!

For the March 30, 2008 opening of the New Washington Stadium, I produced a three camera rig and photographed the 'FIRST PITCH" at the new stadium. "Preparation is 10 percent and Serendipity is 90%" (Gjon Mili). In the process, I made some nice images of the Stadium at various times of day

I was lucky and made two perfect frames which were transmitted to the Post printing plant and 50000 posters arrived back at th stadium to be handed out to fans two hours later! There is nothing like a well-orchestrated plan going off perfectly and this was a good example. Kudos to Lauren Pober (Nationals) and Ken Babby, Naureen Kandar and Marc Rosenberg of the Post Advertising Group. It was outstanding!

GSA Certification and Washington, DC LSDBE status were obtained this year as a convenience for clients working on government bids. To date, it's been the most annoying bureaucratic version of hell that the government has ever come up.

WWII Memorial Prints: Review in the Georgetown Current, June 2005. For the past ten months, I have been photographing the WWII Memorial. It's been a difficult, speculative and ultimately satisfying project and has resulted in a number of covers, a couple of pages in Smithsonian, several TV appearances (CNN and Fox), 36 pages in the Washington Post Magazine and an article in the American Society of Picture Professionals Magazine and a few pages in American Photo. Boeing sponsored a poster which was given out to 1,600,000 people duriing the Memorial Dedication. The images are available on the web for browsiing, in a database for research and yet another for online prints. Stock and "Limited Edition" prints are available through the studio.

Chesapeake Bay Photography"Over the years the Bay has been his favorite place to photograph, not only for its limitless possibilities but also because it's a refuge from the frequently hectic world of advertising, editorial, commercial and stock photography that comprises his career."

Herrington Harbour Marinas For twenty years, I have documented the restoration and evolution of Herrington Harbour Marinas. It is without doubt, one of the most interesting large scale "landscaping projects" ongoing in the Mid-Atlantic region. We just finished the South Marina and in the next few weeks, will begin working on North which is rapidly changing into one of the most comprehensive yacht service centers on the Bay.
WEB WORKS
Small and large websites I've produced for clients. Given today's digital workflow, I have found that prepping the images, text, graphics and web become a natural way to maintain the integrity of your images and keep your client's in the news and give them ready access to the images they paid for!!...sounds like a service industry ad and that's what it is!
